Insurance

DBT of South Jersey is a specialty practice
Now in-network with Curative and select Blue Cross Blue Shield plans

DBT of South Jersey is a highly specialized practice and a Linehan Board Certified Program.
To provide comprehensive, adherent DBT care, we primarily function as an out-of-network practice, with the exception of Curative and select Blue Cross Blue Shield plans.

Insurance companies often place limitations on DBT services, meaning that not all components of treatment are covered, even when insurance is used. Because of this, some clients choose to use insurance where possible, while others prefer to remain private-pay to maintain access to the full scope of DBT services. The information below is intended to help you understand how insurance benefits may apply when considering care with our team.

What Does “Out-of-Network” Mean?

Out-of-network (or OON) refers to services that are not covered under a contracted rate with your specific insurance plan. When services are out-of-network, clients pay for sessions at the time of service and may submit claims to their insurance for possible reimbursement, depending on their benefits. This is common for specialty practices offering comprehensive DBT programming. For out-of-network services, payment in full is due at the time of service.

DBT Therapy With Curative Insurance

If your health insurance comes through an employer that offers Curative, our licensed clinicians at both our Voorhees and Moorestown offices are in-network. Curative members who complete their Baseline Visit within the first 120 days of their plan pay $0 copays and a $0 deductible for in-network care, and that matters in a program like DBT, where you’re coming in every week for months.Getting started takes three steps:

  1. Make sure your Curative Baseline Visit is done (you’ll see it in your Curative app or member portal).
  2. Share your Curative member ID when you call our Intake Coordinator.
  3. We’ll verify your benefits, including skills group, before your first session.

What about Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS)?

DBT of South Jersey is in-network with select Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) plans. If your plan is eligible, services may be billed directly to BCBS and your responsibility may include a copay, coinsurance, or deductible based on your specific plan.

How Do Out-of-Network Benefits Work?

Out-of-network benefits function as a partial reimbursement system on some insurance plans. Clients pay out of pocket for services and may submit documentation to their insurance carrier for potential reimbursement.

Coverage is not guaranteed and varies significantly by plan.

How Do I Know Which Benefits Apply to Me?

The best way to understand how your insurance applies is to:

  • Contact your insurance provider directly, or
  • Use the Instant Benefits Checker on the website

The benefits checker provides estimates only. Final responsibility depends on your specific plan and the clinician you work with.

Important Insurance Notes

Important Insurance Notes

  • DBT of South Jersey is only in-network with BCBS and Curative
  • All other insurance plans are considered out-of-network
  • Coverage varies by service type, clinician, and individual plan
  • Insurance determinations are made by the carrier, not the practice

Verification of benefits does not guarantee payment.

Frequently Asked

Do you offer a sliding scale or discounted rates?

A great option we offer is to work with a Therapist in Training. Our Masters Level Interns have received foundational DBT training and receive weekly Supervision from one of our senior clinical staff members. They also participate in Clinical Meetings weekly to make sure they are offering their clients the best DBT therapy. Rates for seeing an Intern begin at $80 for the Intake and start at $55/session. (FYI that most insurance companies will not extend OON reimbursement for sessions with Interns.)

Do you accept Lyra?

Yes, we are a Lyra partner! If you work for a company that offers Lyra Health and have opted into a plan, you are eligible to see our paneled fully licensed therapists. Depending on your plan specifics, you will be eligible for a certain number of therapy sessions per year covered by your plan, and your dependents may also be included in those benefits. In order to check which Therapists at DBT of SJ have availability through Lyra, visit your Lyra Health Portal. If you have any questions regarding our process with Lyra, email our Intake Coordinator: intake@dbtofsouthjersey.com

Do you accept Curative insurance?

Yes. As of October 2026, DBT of South Jersey is in-network with Curative at both our Voorhees and Moorestown offices. Curative is an employer-sponsored health plan, so you’d have it through your job or a family member’s job.

What will DBT cost with Curative?

Curative members pay $0 copays and a $0 deductible for in-network care, as long as they complete their Curative Baseline Visit within the first 120 days of their plan. If the Baseline Visit isn’t completed, a deductible applies for the rest of the plan year. Our team verifies your benefits before your first session so you know what to expect.

What about Allied Trades, Teamsters and Veterans?

Yes, we are partnered with each of these organizations to increase access to care. Veterans can learn more about how to set up therapy with us here.

Do you take Medicaid for Therapy?

We are not currently able to accept Medicaid plans, including Horizon NJ Health.

What is a typical length of treatment so that I can gauge my overall investment in this process?

Client and Therapist create a Treatment Plan and word towards goals together. Most new clients begin at 1 session per week, although the frequency of sessions will be recommended following the Intake, once the Therapist completes the initial clinical evaluation.

Skills Group is a commitment of 1 year for adults or 7 months for teens, and is held weekly.

Can I be seen less frequently to decrease the cost?

Frequency of sessions will be determined by the Therapist following the Intake evaluation. Initially, it is recommended to have sessions weekly for maximum effect of the therapy, however a client may discuss options with their Therapist for spacing out sessions due to financial or schedule reasons.  If you still have questions, do not hesitate to reach out to our Intake Coordinator: intake@dbtofsouthjersey.com

DBT Linehan Board Certified Practice

What does it mean to be a Linehan Board Certified Program?

Achieving DBT Linehan Board Certification signifies that a therapy program has met the rigorous standards set by the Linehan Board of Certification (DBT-LBC), which was founded by Dr. Marsha Linehan, the developer of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). This certification ensures that the program provides DBT in a manner that adheres to the highest standards of treatment fidelity and clinical expertise.

DBT of South Jersey is just one of two Linehan Board Certified Programs in the state of New Jersey and one of less than 40 Certified Programs Globally.

Achieving DBT Linehan Board Certification signifies that a therapy program has met the rigorous standards set by the Linehan Board of Certification which was founded by Dr. Marsha Linehan, the developer of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).

This certification ensures that the program provides DBT in a manner that adheres to the highest standards of treatment fidelity and clinical expertise.

A DBT Linehan Board Certified Program has been independently evaluated by experts in the field and confirmed all the elements are present to provide adherent, comprehensive DBT. This matters most for clients, families, and consumers because it increases the chances they are getting adherent, research-supported DBT treatment.

Why did we do it?

  • We ask our clients to do really hard things. It wouldn’t align for us to not move forward in certification because it was “too hard”. It was a challenging almost two-year team process and pushed us to have hard conversations, make changes and ultimately become stronger clinicians.
  • We also hold a core value of never stop learning and growing. We don’t take our clients time for granted. Their time, their money invested into treatment is valuable. We hold these values to remind us that our clients deserve the best in clinical care and that they get both the treatment and results they are searching for.
  • We hope that holding this certification will help insurance companies to recognize the life saving treatment that we provide at DBT of South Jersey, and support us in giving clients the care they both need in deserve.
  • We also hope to be a part of change in the future of DBT, to make it a therapy that considers all people in a more inclusive and evolving way.
