Living in Overdrive: A DBT Skills Group for Neurodivergent Adults
For many neurodivergent adults, life can feel like it swings between overwhelm and shutdown – moving too fast to catch, or suddenly slowing to a stop. If you’ve been told you’re “too sensitive,” “too much,” or find yourself getting flooded by emotions, stuck in overthinking, or shutting down when things pile up, it’s not because you’re doing life wrong. It’s because your nervous system processes the world differently.
That’s where this group comes in. This weekly, in-person DBT skills group is designed for neurodivergent adults who want practical, structured tools for managing overwhelming emotions, navigating sensory overload, improving communication, and building routines that actually work for their brain.

This Group is perfect for you if:
- You meet clinical criteria for Autism, ADHD, or other neurodivergent presentations and experience emotional overwhelm, shutdowns, difficulty with transitions, sensory sensitivity, or challenges with communication and relationships
- Your emotions escalate quickly or feel hard to manage in the moment
- You get stuck in overthinking, rumination, or avoidance patterns
- You struggle with follow-through, even when you know what would help
- You experience sensory overload or shutdown when things feel like too much
- You want practical, structured tools for managing emotions, stress, and relationships in daily life

What You'll Do and Learn
Each session follows a consistent and predictable structure to support learning and regulation. Groups will include:
A brief mindfulness or grounding exercise at the start
Optional homework review
Skills teaching with real-life examples and guided practice
A short break built into the middle of session
A closing reflection to help integrate what was learned
Throughout the group, you will learn practical DBT skills for managing overwhelming emotions, tolerating distress, improving communication, and understanding the connection between thoughts, emotions, and body responses. Skills are taught in a way that is structured, accessible, and directly applicable to daily life.
