“Dedication sees dreams come true..”
– Kobe Bryant
Resiliency. I love this quote by Kobe Bryant because it emphasizes just that, and how we can find that inner strength to get to where we hope we can be. This word – resiliency – is so powerful because it can help explain what you’ve been through, but also motivate you to get where you’re trying to go. It can bring light out of darkness and hope and strength out of anguish. Getting to where you want to be isn’t easy, but the paths that seem the most challenging are always the ones that are the most rewarding.
Strength and growth comes from continuous efforts, and it’s important to find the right therapist to be there to guide you and support you on your path – just like any teammate would. I understand that my role as a counselor is to be a collaborative partner, and to work together with my clients to help them achieve their goals. A healthy team strives on communication, developing a rapport, being genuine, and establishing trust with one another. Therapy can be intimidating at first, but it’s important to me that I help my clients feel safe, validated, heard, and that I’m my genuine and authentic self each session. I want each client to know that this is a safe space, and that we are working together as a team to achieve a common goal.
I obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and Sociology from The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) in 2018, and obtained my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health in 2024. I have a lot of experience working with youth, adolescents, adults, and families through my jobs. One of the jobs I had the privilege to work at was as a Wish Granter at Make-A-Wish Foundation – where our mission was to help promote strength, hope, and joy. No matter how challenging of an obstacle that our clients were in, we worked as a team to get through it together, and that collaborative mindset is what I hope to bring to DBT of South Jersey as well. I’m passionate about mindfulness and other holistic approaches because I feel like being present in the moment is such a powerful step towards healing. I can personally say that being able to ground yourself and bring yourself back out of those moments is empowering and it gives you the strength to keep moving forward.
I understand that it takes a lot of vulnerability and bravery to begin therapy, and I want to be sure that we highlight that strength. It’s those steps that help us to get 1% better each day.
I like to spend my free time watching and playing sports, working out, going to the beach, concerts (I love country, pop, and punk rock music), as well as spending time with my family/friends, and trying out new food spots (always looking for recommendations). I also LOVE dogs and am hoping to adopt one soon!
