“Challenges are what make life interesting and overcoming them is what makes life meaningful.”

My love for DBT started while working at an outpatient women’s trauma program. In that setting, I was able to see how so many clients were able to build a life worth living after learning and applying skills on a daily basis. I appreciate how DBT has the ability to provide a safe structure while still having the flexibility to personalize the skills for each client. I am a firm believer of practicing what you preach, so I also utilize the skills daily. My enthusiasm for teaching DBT stems from how helpful they are in my personal life, and I am confident that can be helpful for you too!

My commitment is to give you room to access your own wisdom and collaborate with you on how to make the hard stuff easier to sit with. My goals are to understand the challenges that you are currently facing, while empowering you to use your own strengths and skills to make life long changes. Though most of my work is with women who struggle with emotion dysregulation, a lack of self-compassion and self-destructive behaviors, I also enjoy work with adolescents and couples. My therapeutic style embodies a nonjudgmental stance and empathic listening while also guiding my clients towards the change they are seeking.

I received my master’s degree in social work with a specific concentration in individual and family counseling from Monmouth University. I am a licensed as a social worker in the state of New Jersey, and provide supervision and training to clinicians entering the field. I am foundationally trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy by Dr. Essie Larson.

When I am not working, I enjoy getting lost in a book, spending time with friends and family, taking pictures, and going to hockey games.  I am always looking forward to the next opportunity where I can accumulate positives or build a sense of mastery (see, those DBT skills really are everywhere for me)! If you have been on the fence about scheduling, know that making it this far is a good place to be, AND you will thank yourself later for pushing yourself to go just one step forward and book your appointment today. I’ll see you soon!
