“Faith is taking the first step even when you can’t see the whole staircase.”
― Martin Luther King Jr.
Taking the first step in therapy can be scary and requires bravery. This quote always speaks to me because having hope or faith can help increase a sense of control in your life and increase your confidence. Change does not happen inside your comfort zone and staying in your comfort zone too much will convince you that doing something else will be too hard or unachievable. Taking that leap of faith can be anxiety provoking, however if you have coping skills and a loving support system, it will make that leap easier. My goal is to help you find your inner strength and courage to make positive lifelong decisions. So, let’s take that leap of faith together.
I am truly love my work as a therapist and find it to be incredibly rewarding. I really value the level of trust that is built in a therapeutic relationship. I consider it a blessing to be able to help someone on their journey to build a life worth living. My clinical experience stems from working at a partial hospitalization/intensive outpatient trauma program for women. Much of my counseling experience prior to working here has been with a wide-range of clients seeking therapy for reasons such as PTSD, depression, low self worth, anxiety and relational trauma.
I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from University of Arizona and earned my Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Temple University. I am currently a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with the state of New Jersey.
I received foundational training in DBT from Dr. Essie Larson. What I love most about DBT are the ideas of balancing acceptance and change, as well as building a life worth living. If we can accept ourselves as we are, it will increase our openness and ability to make a change. Additionally, the concept of building a life worth living is important as it encapsulates the ability to live a life that is meaningful and valuable even on your hardest days. I have seen firsthand how helpful and life changing the DBT skills are for both my clients and myself. My hope is to pass this knowledge on to you in order to help you find enjoyment for life again.
When I am not working with clients I enjoy traveling as much as I can, taking pictures, spending time with friends and family, finding new places to eat or going to the movies — especially for the popcorn with extra butter! Looking forward to seeing you in my office soon, whether in Moorestown or on the computer screen!
