Drumming for Mindfulness & Connection
Southern Italian Tammurriata Workshop
Join our Italian American scholar, Samantha Pinto, LAC, along with Special Guest Musician and Educator, Bryce Bayer, for this in-person workshop exploring the vibrant tradition of Southern Italian drumming.
Together, they’ll guide you through the rhythmic practice of tammurriata, combining mindfulness, movement, and culture to create an experience that’s perfect for anyone seeking a fresh approach to mindfulness and connection.
If you find mindfulness challenging or crave a deeper connection through movement and rhythm, join us for an immersive drumming workshop that blends creativity, culture, and community.
Workshop includes:
- An Intro to Distress Tolerance & Drumming: An introduction to mindfulness practices and the scientifically backed benefits of drumming, led by Samantha Pinto, LAC.
- Cultural Background: Learn about the Southern Italian folk tradition of tammurriata, a rhythmic practice with roots in the Campania region, presented by musician and educator Bryce Bayer.
- Hands-On Participation: Discover basic drumming techniques and rhythms. Choose to play, listen, or observe—no musical experience is needed.
This workshop is open to anyone who is interested: Individuals, mental health clinicians, researchers, and students are all encouraged to join!
